Welcome Back and Happy 2024!
I hope you had a restful and relaxing break. I also hope that your batteries have been recharged and you are ready to wrap up 1st semester that is quickly coming to an end. Remember, the end of the marking period is January 19th! All of your hard work will finally be coming to conclusion and a new beginning, second semester, is around the corner.
I would like to give a Special Welcome to our two new Social Workers who begin their work tomorrow. Breona Sharkey will be join our Intermediate Team and Mallory Schley will be focusing her work at East Elementary. I know the building principal’s and building staffs are excited to have these two join their teams. We are making a concentrated effort to provide our youngest and neediest students with the supports they need to be successful and productive students now, and carry that success into their bright futures. Thank you Breona and Mallory for helping us to achieve that goal and I look forward to working with you and let’s give them a warm Cheboygan welcome tomorrow morning!
I would like to thank everyone for their positive comments in regards to our new website platform, “Apptegy”. If you don’t know, this is a very user-friendly platform and links nicely to your phone. You can download the App now, if you have not already. Simply go to your App Store on your phone. Search for “Cheboygan Areas Schools” and download our new App for FREE.

In closing, I have to say that last night’s Michigan Football Game was AMAZING as Michigan won in overtime. As many of you know, I have been a lifelong Wolverine fan. My Dad was the Building Manager of the Art and Architecture Building at the University of Michigan for over 20 years in the 80’s and 90’s. As a kid, I would spend my summers going to work with him and exploring the Michigan campus. At that time, Bo Schembechler was the leader of the Michigan FB program. Ironically, as some of you know, Bo was Jim Harbaugh’s coach and how appropriate for a “Michigan Man”, Jim Harbaugh, coached by the great Bo Schembechler, to be the one that leads the Wolverines into the National Title game on Monday, January 8th. The last time Michigan won the National Championship game was 1997, coached by Lloyd Carr. Go Blue!
Spencer S. Byrd, Ed.S - CAS Superintendent
Quote for the Week: “No Man is more important than the Team. No coach is more important than the Team. The Team, the Team, the Team and if we think that way, all of us, in everything that we do, you take into consideration what effect does it have on our Team.”
– Bo Schembechler (April 1, 1929 – November 17, 2006)
